Bordeaux: Chateaus, Wine Museums, and Much More
When being on exchange in Toulouse, don’t forget to visit the charming city of Bordeaux. The city is known for its excellent wine but has so much more to offer. Here you can read about my recommendations. Good reading!
Explore Bordeaux’s Wine Estates: When visiting Bordeaux, you should definitely take the chance to visit some of the area’s beautiful Chateaus. The soil is very different on each site of the Garonne River and thereby also the wine. So if you are a wine enhusiast you should visit a Chateau on each site. When you booked a wine tasting on one of the many Chateaus, you will often be explained a lot about the wine. I will recommed to visit Chateau Marquis De Terme Margaux and Saint-Emilion Château Corbin. Saint-Emilion is a really cute city also, so if you go, I would recommend to spend a whole day there.

La Cité du Vin: Here you can dive into the world of Bordeaux’s viticultural heritage. This wine museum offers interactive exhibits, tastings, and panoramic views from its observation deck. It is definitely worth a visit!

Bassin de Lumière and Miroir D’Eau: If you are into art, visit the light museum “Bassin de Lumière”. Here you can experience a lot of cool exhibitions and you can easily use a couple of hours. Also, Miroir D’Eau is worth a visit. It is a reflecting pool, located across from La Cité du Vin and Place de la Bourse. Because of the mirror-like reflections it is creating a surreal ambiance. Definitely worth a visit!

Culinary Delights: In Bordeaux, you can find many nice restaurants. Go to the inner city and sit at a cafe, have a glass of wine, and enjoy the beautiful buildings. I would also recommend going to Les Halles, which is a nice food market where you can find food from many different cuisines.
